Please post an example of a metaphor from your poetry novel. Also explain, in a sentence, the two items that are being compared. Include the page number.

"That bachelor's rat hole" page 50. In this example of a metaphor from The Trial, Katie Leigh's mom is comparing Uncle Jeff's apartment to a rat hole. She is saying that his apartment is filthy, like a hole where rats live.
"viola pettibone, who mothers that cat of hers" In this metaphor, it is comparing how a mother treats her own child and how Viola Pettibone treats her cat. She treats it as if it was a human child. Page 81
One of Those Hideous Books Where the Mother Dies: pg.41 "...and off to the right, a living room roughly the size of a football field." This metaphor is saying that the size of the living room is so huge that it feels like a football field.
Page 70 "Blue car blue cat splattered with mud hit Sky thud thud thud and kept on going so fast so many miles to go it couldn't even stop." This is a metaphor showing how fast humans must go and how we just don't slow down.
I am finished reading, Love That Dog. I found the metaphor, he was trying to hug the insides right out of me on page 47. I'm not exactly sure if it is a metaphor, but I couldn't find anything else. The two items being compared are a him hugging him hard and squeeze him hard to where his insides would come out.
One example of a metaphor in the book "Tropical Secrets" is, "This tropical heat is a weight in the sky, crushing my breath..." This example is comparing the heat to a heavy weight and can be found on page 10.
"She is the ony rose that doesn't smell of plastic" In the book "Street Love" this is comparing Junice to a rose that dosn't smell like plastic. Pg: 34 -Aaron C hr 2
In the book "Street Love", by Walter Dean Myers, I found a metaphor on page 2. "For them life is a ripe orange, succulent and sweet, ready to be devoured." This metaphor is comparing Damian and his friend's lives to a ripe fruit that is good and ready to eat. For them, life is ready to be devoured, and they are eager to get started.
This line compares her sister to being someone she doesn't know. Although at first it doesn't look like a metaphor, it is because it's comparing two things without using like or as. What she's trying to say is that she feels like she doesn't know her sister. She doesn't mean that she actually doesn't.
He don't like nobody but Lannie, don't cotton to nobody else This passage was on page 15. This metaphor is comparing Uncle Daddy to cotton and how he only clings to one person.
Aunt Margaret is a fragile wisp of ancient history. Aunt Margaret is being compared to a fragile wisp of ancient history because she is old, but holds many secrets of the past. -"Who Will Tell My Brother?" page 10
It was hard to find a metaphor in my book but then I finally came across one. The metaphor that I found is "A pair of larks, sweep into view, black lines against the sky." I found this on page 200 and it is a metaphor because it says "A pair of larks, black lines against the sky." Instead of saying "A pair of larks sweep into view, like a pair of black lines against the sky."
I am reading "Shark Girl". An example of a metaphor is "The skin that is gone stretched tight, gloves squashing tight over tender bones that are no longer there." Pg.33. She is saying that her skin is stretched really tight, just like how a glove that fits tightly over your hand.
One example of a metaphor in my book was "A pair of larks sweep into view, black lines against the sky." The pair of larks were being compared to black lines. I found this metaphor on page 200.
Shark Girl pg.42 "A muzzle that is a watermelon, but it is a muzzle." In this example of a metaphor, Jane is comparing the muzzle of a giraffe she drew to a watermelon.
And when our fingers bump in the popcorn box,a shower of sparks flies out. The two items being compared are their fingers and a shower of sparks, from page 229 in What my Mother Doesn't Know. -JeKayla Curtis
"All the heavens seem to twinkle," is an example of a metaphor in the book "Hate That Cat". This is on page 135. The sky is being compared to something twinkling. The sky cannot literally sparkle, so this is a metaphor.
"A rose without a petal is still a rose." The rose without a petal like a person without a limb is being compared to a perfect rose like an able bodied person. Even though the rose has lost a petal, it is still a rose, just like an amputee is still human.
Shark Girl page: 105 "I have no legs to cross the bridge toward Sunflower, Blooming, and return home." This is comparing how hard it will be for Jane to go back to her art once she is out of the hospital.
"And when our fingers bump in the popcorn box,a shower of sparks flies out." page 229 in What My Mother Doesn't know. The 2 things being compared are Sophie and Murphy's hands to a shower of sparks.

This line compares her sister to being someone she doesn't know. Although at first it doesn't look like a metaphor, it is because it's comparing two things without using like or as. What she's trying to say is that she feels like she doesn't know her sister. She doesn't mean that she actually doesn't.
