Winding down...

As your 8th grade year comes to a close, there are many changes that will be taking place in your future. Each one of you made each of my classes unique, and I will miss that.
So, as you're heading off to high school, what will you miss most about 8th grade?

The thing I will miss most about 8th grade language arts is 12 Angry Men because it was a fun activity for the whole class. I liked how we did that play in class, how everybody got to participate other than the teacher just reading it out loud. Then, the movie was kind of fun and exiting. I wish we had another section like that in 8th grade.

  2. The thing I will miss about eighth grade is the people. I think that when I get to high school I won’t be seeing some of the people that I met in eighth grade. I hope that I will still see all the same people.

  3. What I will miss the most about 8th grade is the full lockers. I have always had a full locker and I know that L.S.West only has half lockers. I don’t know how it feels to have a half locker. The only good thing about having a half locker is that my sister could be right below or on top of my locker:). Even though I will miss full lockers, it won’t be that bad because I don’t have very much stuff.

  4. What I will miss most about eighth grade are the classes. I won’t miss learning, but I will miss the people. I love hearing people say stupid stuff and embarrassing themselves. I will also miss the people in math acting like idiots and Mrs. Howard yelling at them. That was always the highlight of my day.

  5. The thing that I will miss the most about 8th grade is the teachers. The teachers have been really nice. My favorite teacher would have to be Mr. Morris. He is really cool and always really calm he never gets mad. But my favorite teacher on green team would have to be Mrs. Griffin she is the only teacher that doesn’t get really mad. She is very nice to everyone. I always look forward to going to her class. She makes her class so much fun even if we are not learning something that interests you. You will never be bored in her class.

  6. There are many things that I will miss about middle school. Most of all I will miss all of my amazing teachers. The teachers on eight green helped me to learn so much and I learned a lot of lessons this year. I'm so glad that I got on green team so thank you so much for your help and teachings.

  7. The old Locker combination, being the most powerful person in the school and having so much free time, and the ablity to over corwd other people lockers like putting your body on 4 lockers all at once and have over all controll over the locker mates. In High school I know I don't have any right to do that. You can get expelled forever.

  9. The thing I will miss the most about 8th grade is being friends next year with some of the people I’m with this year. Next year, since it’s a bigger school and most likely I won’t have a lot of classes with the same people I do this year, I might not see a lot of people.

  10. What, I will miss the most about 8th grade is all my friends and teachers. I will miss my teachers because they taught me a lot about learning and how to us common since. I just want all my GREEN TEAM teachers to now I love you all in different ways. Mr. Carr you where a hard teach but that’s what, I like about you. You taught me to do better and try hard on everything. Mrs. Howard you are the sweetest teacher in the world I wish you could be a teacher a little longer so other kids can see how much joy is in your heart. Mrs. Griffin you are a very good teacher and good mother to sawyer. Miss Jackson you’re a cool teacher the robots where so much fun. And Mrs. Taylor I really don’t now what to say you have done so much for me. I can’t wait to see your son I am sure he will be just like you. I love you Mrs. Taylor very much ……BYE

  11. The things I will miss most about 8th grade is receiving the highest grade and feeling on top of the world. I’ll also miss the homework here because I hear the homework in high school is way harder then middle school. I will also miss all the friends I made this year because I might not see or talk to them next year. This year was amazing and I hope to make it even better next year, as a freshman.

  12. I think I’m going to miss the false sense of power I have as an 8th grader. West is a bigger school than SLMS and being a freshman just means the bottom of the food chain for me. Being able to look over those little 7th graders shoulders is very nice but I fear that seniors are going to be what I once was.

  13. The thing that I will miss the most about 8th grade is reading The Outsiders. Although I don’t like reading at all, that was a really good book. The plot was great, along with the characters. It was just an overall good book. If I have the time in the future I am going to have to read it again to bring back old memories.

  14. The thing I will miss most in 8th grade will have to be the classes. The classes are really fun and I really like the teachers. The only thing that I won't miss would be the class L.A. (no offense) I am just not very good at this class...sorry. I do like the teacher of the class. I think she is really nice and sometimes funny.

  15. The thing I will miss most about 8th grade is some of my teachers. I'll also miss the homework because I heard it's a lot harder up at the high school. Going up to the high school I might not be able to see as much of my friends since it's a bigger school. I can't wait to come back to Summit Lakes later on and visit everyone.

  16. The thing I will miss most in 8th grade would have to be being the oldest people in the school. Being an 8th grader you are the oldest and you feel like you are in control of everything! I like the feelling that you are on top of the world! I will also miss the teachers. All 7 of them have taught me new and exciting things in different ways and I appreciate that!

    ReplyDelete
  17. The things I will miss most in 8th grade will have to be my friends. I just hope will stay friends in high school. I will also miss not having as much homework, cause I heard the homework in high school is even harder! I had so many funny memories in 8th grade, and I hope high school will be even better!

  18. The thing that I will miss about 8th grade is probably knowing that I will not ever come to this school to learn again. I really like Summit Lakes, but I know that I will like West too. I can't believe how fast time goes by, and that I only have four years of school before I go to college. I hope to come back and see all of my old teachers at Summit Lakes, from team 8-Green.

  19. What I will miss most about 8th grade is being on top of the school. Since we are the oldest in the school we get more respect but in 9th grade will be back at the bottom of the school. I will also miss all of my teachers because they are the best I have ever had.

  20. The thing that I will miss most about 8th grade is being the oldest ones in the school. Next year, when we go to high school, we will be the youngest and the most confused ones in the school. I like being in 8th grade because we know more about the school then the 7th graders. I like being the older, wiser one. Since we will be the youngest ones in high school we will probably be much smaller then all the older kids to. I am scared to go to high school but I am also really excited!

  21. The thing I will miss most about this year is band and studying the Holocaust in Language Arts. I will miss band class because I will be in Drum Line. Mrs. Puyear has influenced me to continue with the band program. The Holocaust has also stick in my memory for a lifetime. How could anyone do this to 6 million people? All of the evil done because they were different.

  22. The thing I will miss most about Summit Lakes is the library. It has become almost like a second home to me. I don't know how I'll live without the familiar sights and smells of this library. Fortunately though, West has one, too. I guess I'll just grow to love that one. I sure hope they have good books up there, or I might just come back here! We all know that wouldn't be fun!

  23. The thing I will miss most about eigth grade is the classrooms. At the highschool the classrooms are smaller. They dont have much colorfulness. I will also miss most of my teachers. Thank you Mrs. Griffin for being such a good teacher.

  24. The thing I will miss the most about this year is my friends and all the crazy things we have done. I am scared that we will not get to see eachother in high school as much as we get to here at SLMS. My friends and I have done so many fun and crazy things this year like dressing up very weird and just singing through the hallways. I appriciate that the school has let us have all the fun times we have had.

  25. The thing I will miss most about being in 8th grade will be being with my friends and my team. A lot of my friends are on my team this year and we might not have any classes together next year. I will also miss my teachers. I have learned so much from them this year! I will miss everyone a lot!

  26. The thing I will miss the most about this year is all the teachers. They just made my 8th grade experience totally unique. I enjoyed math a lot. Mrs. Howard made it so easy to understand math, and now I'm not scared of taking on that big math problem. The holocaust was really interesting, and really depressing at the same time. I loved learning about it, though. I will miss Summit Lakes!

  27. The thing I will miss the most about 8th grade is being with all my friends. This year, most of my friends have at least one or two classes with me even if they’re on a different team. Next year, most of us will be taking all sorts of classes and doing different extra activities. Now, I always pass my friends in the hallway or walk with them, and I get to see them a lot and I’m thinking that next year, that won’t happen as much.

  28. I will miss a whole lot about eighth grade. I had so much fun this year and I’m sad we have to go. One thing I love about eighth grade is that the teachers are amazing and I get to see all of my friends everyday. I know in high school there’s a good chance my friends and I won’t be in all seven classes together (like a few of my friends were this year.) I just love eighth grade! I will really miss my music class. We had so much fun in Summit Lakes Singers. I will also miss language arts. I love to write and language arts was a lot of fun for me this year. I will really miss SLMS.

  29. The thing that I will miss the most in 8th Grade is having classes with all of my friends in at least one hour of the day. I also will miss studying the Holocaust in Language Arts. I think it was horrible for what the Nazis did but for some reason I took an interest to learning about the Holocaust and the horrible pain the Nazis put the Jews through.

  30. The thing that I will miss most about 8th grade will be acting out 12 angry men. This was the first year that my class had been so interactive in one topic. I really enjoyed acting out the book and the movie was great.I really enjoyed language arts this year, I am really going to miss it.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I will really miss having so many classes with my friends. I know that I probably still have some classes with them next year but it’s obviously not guaranteed. I know that I can always make new friends but I will still miss my old ones.

    ReplyDelete
  32. The things I will miss most about eighth grade will be the homeroom activities. I enjoyed going to the gym and getting pumped up before first hour started. I will also miss the teachers. Some teachers did a really good job with helping me out. I will miss not having to be new to this school this year, like I will be next year. I am afraid that I won't be able to see my friends as much as I do now, because West will be so much bigger. Overall I will just miss eighth grade!

    ReplyDelete
  33. What I will miss the most about eight grade is having a full locker and someone I know by the locker next to me. My stuff takes up a lot of space and it almost fills up all the space that I have. The lockers at LSW are less than half the size at SLMS. I will also not know the people surrounding me since it is in alphabetical order. I will definitely miss Summit Lakes!

    ReplyDelete
  34. The thing I will miss the most about 8the grade will be the supportive and kind teachers of 8 green. Mr. Carr, Mrs. Griffin, Mrs. Howard, and Mrs. Jackson were so kind and supportive to me at Summit Lakes. They recommended me for Student of the Month and for my application to Rockhurst High School. Thank you so much for a great year!

  35. The thing that I will miss the most about eighth grade is the people that go to this school. I have friends here that are seventh graders and I will miss seeing them in the hallways. I will also miss some of my friends that are in my grade too. Some of my friends will be in my classes next year, but some won’t. Some of them will be moving so I won’t even get to see them in the hall. I am also going to miss my teachers this year. They have been so friendly and helpful. I will definitely miss them.

  36. I have had a wonderful year. I am very sad to be leaving middle school. I can't believe that this year is almost over. The one thing I will miss is seeing all my teachers and my friends. I will miss music also. Summit Lakes Singers was sooo much fun this year. Like when we went to Tan-Tar-a and Branson. Also I'm gonna miss language arts. I love to read and write. I think the assignments and books we had and read were awesome and I know they are just going to get harder and I'm gonna dislike them more and more. I am really gonna miss this year.

  37. Heading off to high school, the thing I will miss most from 8th grade is the school being small. I like being able to know mostly everyone. Next year at west there will be 4 different grade levels; so there so going to be a lot of kids. Also walking into West makes Summit Lakes feel so small. Me being kind of short, it might be a little scary walking down the halls with seniors that are way bigger than me. Other than the school being so big I will also miss having classes with just you people in your grade level. I am not looking forward to having P.E., health, or art with seniors, juniors or sophomores. And also having that, I might not have many classes with my old friends, even though I will make new ones.

    ReplyDelete
  38. What I will miss the most about 8th grade is, seeing all the people. When you go to High school you don’t get to see everybody because the High school is so big. Also I will miss the people because we were all close and it is going to be different with a bunch of people walking around that you don’t even know. And most of them aren’t going to be your age either. But I am also very excited for High school to meet new people. But I will always have a special place for Summit Lakes.

  39. The thing I will miss most about 8th grade is awards show practices. Awards show is really fun and exciting. I love hanging out at the practices and will be sad when it’s over.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I have had a lot of fun this year doing all the different activities. I look forward to going to high school because I will do new things and meet new people. I might even figure out what I want to do the rest of my life. Even so I will always remember my middle school years and all the fun I have had. All the teachers here are different from each other and have their own different ways to teach. This school year has been crazy, but it’s probably the best so far and I will remember it forever

  41. The thing I will miss most about this year is having classes with so many good friends. I also made a lot of new friends this year which was pretty cool. Also the teachers were incredible. They helped me learn so many new things. This was the best year ever.

    ReplyDelete
  42. One thing that I will miss the most will be the fact that I won't get to see my friends in most of my classes. I am afriad that I won't get any friends in my classes and won't get to hang out with them anymore. At least I know I will be able to make more friends if none are in my classes.

  43. It has been an excellent year. I have had a lot of fun. The thing I will miss the most will be the teachers. They have given me a great amount of support and help throughout the year. I couldn't have done it without the encouragement they gave me. I also liked the fun activities and projects we did such as the basketball event during homeroom. It was a terrific year. Thank you so much!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. My teachers on green team made this one of the best years I’ve ever had. They worked really hard to make class and school fun. I loved all of my teachers, and I will miss them all next year! Mrs. Griffin is my favorite language arts teacher ever. I have never liked language arts but she made it fun and interesting. My favorite part of her class was the poetry unit (which I’ve always hated before this year) and The Outsiders, one of my favorite books. I will miss Mrs. Howard for she was an amazing teacher. She made sure we knew what we were doing, and that we were having a great time in math. Mr. Carr is a really good teacher. He makes class challenging and fun at the same time. Social studies was my favorite class this year. Mrs. Jackson made science fun in many ways, especially with the robots! My teachers made my 8th grade year great, and so did the new friends I made. I hope I get to see them next year at West, because I’m afraid I won’t. Thank you for a great year!

  45. The thing that I will miss most about 8th grade is the wonderful people at our school. All of the staff at Summit Lakes have been so awesome. They made me feel welcome from the first day of school. The teachers were funny and understood me and showed that they cared about me and my peers. I will also miss my friends at Summit Lakes. I had so much fun with the people I had in my classes. In high school, everyone has a different schedule and I probably won't have classes with many of the friends I made in 8th grade. I had so much fun this year and I will miss everyone. I enjoyed my classes and I hope everyone had as much fun as I did!!!!!!

  46. The thing I would miss more would proably be, although I don't want to admit it, homework. I don't want to have that hard homework that 9th graders get.

    ReplyDelete
  47. After my experince at SLMS which has been so amazing that I will miss almost everything. I will miss all my teachers here they all are so different. They made it really interesting to learn new things. One of the teachers I will miss most of all is Mrs. M-G she is so funny and every art project we did was so much fun. I will miss Summit Lakes so much!

  48. Change is sometimes hard to deal with. The thing that I will miss most about 8th grade is the sense of familiarity and knowing most of the people. High school is a chance to meet new people and new personalities. But, I will never forget the people at Summit Lakes.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Leaving 8th grade the thing I will miss the most is the homework. I know that sounds wierd, but we will have a ton of homework next year it will be really stressful.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Man, I will miss nothing. I'm tired of school. All the homework. The only thing that made Advanced Studies, Advanced Studies was extra projects and books that aren't that good. How would anybody miss that and we're going to see all of our friends next year. People say High School is the best time of your life. So I say, bring it on!

    ReplyDelete
  51. I will miss many things about eighth grade including the teachers. You spend a whole year getting used to how they teach and their personalities, but then you go to a new school and have to learn completely new people and teachers. I will really miss my teachers on eight green, though. I will also miss the fun activities that our school has. Like Survivor Day and the activities in the gym. I really will miss everything!

    ReplyDelete
  52. The thing that I will miss most about eighth grade is the vast amount of knowledge I have gained this year. If you think about it, it's pretty amazing. All my teachers have been a good influence. Over all, eighth grade sits at number two on my favorite grade list. Kindergarten beats it by that much. All in all I had an amazing year at Summit Lakes.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I will miss my classes, teachers, and classmates. My favorite class is Summit Lakes Singers. There are like 60 kids in there and we have all grown together. We have gone to the MMEA convention and Silver Dollar City. I will miss my teacher, Mrs. Files. She has affected me to a point that I might want to become a music teacher. I have also been affected by Mrs. Howard. She has taught me that algebra can be fun (at times). Now I am sounding like a geek! Thanks Mrs. Howard. I am probably going to bawl my eyes out to see Mrs. Files when I leave. I wish that all 7th graders could see how truly sweet Mrs. Howard is. I am definately going to cry about that. This year has brought me pain, joy, and more friends, and I will never forget it. Thanks to everyone!

  54. I will miss a lot about Summit Lakes. I will miss my seventh hour class. It was my favorite class this year. I had a lot of fun. I really liked the poetry unit. I have never liked writing poetry before but this year it was fun. I also liked reading The Outsiders. It is my new favorite book I even got my sister to read it. This year was really fun and I will always remember it.

  55. The thing I will miss most about 8th grade is being the oldest and the teachers. At Summit Lakes this year, the eighth graders got to rule the school! Next year we will be freshman and the youngest at our school! I will also miss all of my green team teachers and extra teachers! They were all special and great in their own way! I will really miss middle school and it will be an experience I will never forget.

  56. This year has been amazing! I have enjoyed many things. I will miss my teachers alot. I will miss the way Mr. Car picks on me in social studies. I will miss seeing all my friends in the halls. I will also miss having a big full locker. Next year will be very different from this year. I think I am ready though.

  57. I had so much fun this year, ranging from just being with my friends to playing basketball (which is my love). Although I will miss everything, the thing I will miss the most is probably my friends. I know I will have them next year but next year we will be all spread out throughout the school. I hope I at least have some classes with my brother and other best friends. Staying in contact is the most important thing. Although most the time I will be with other ninth graders next year it just won’t be the same as this year.

  58. The thing that I will miss the most about 8th grade is. The teachers they are all great
Every one of the them has taught me something new. I am sad that Mrs. Howard Is leaving and I wish her the best of luck I am also sad that no one else gets to see how great of a teacher that she is. Mr. Carr you were hard on me but that was good because I know I get of task a lot and you didn’t let me get away with anything oh thank you for putting me in the corner of the room so that I wouldn’t talk to any one. Ms. Jackson you have taught me so much, and that when I don’t understand that I should ask questions and I well work on not talking to much next year! Mrs. Griffin thank you so much for making language arts fun I really like the books the class read this year. And I didn’t forget you Mrs. Taylor I wish you the best next year. To all the teachers on the green team I hope that you have a great summer!!!!!!!!

  59. I will miss you a lot. I hope the teachers next year are as fun and cool as you are. The blog is amzingly awsome

  60. The things that I will miss the most about 8th grade are the teachers, the building, and the homework. I will miss the homework because I have heard that there will be a lot more in high school and it will be a lot harder. I will miss the building because West is huge and I am afraid I will get lost. The teachers are one of the things that I will miss the very most out of my whole one year career at Summit Lakes. I will miss everyone of my teachers for different reasons but most they have all worked hard to make my year great. Mrs. Howard you have an amazing personality that showed through everyday that you taught us and I feel that I owe you in am amazing way for making my days better than they should have been. Mrs. Griffon you have a wonderful family that I have enjoyed hearing about and I know that you will continue to inspire your students to achieve their highest goals. Ms. Jackson you have made science this year fun and adventurous, even if this section of science isn’t my favorite I really enjoyed having you as a teacher. Mr. Carr your class has been entertaining and fun I hope you will have the same sense of humor with your future students that you had with me. Mrs. Taylor I wish that I would have had more time to get to know you, you seem like a pretty amazing teacher. I will miss everyone of you and I hope I can come back to see you!

  61. I will say I enjoyed my time with you mrs. Griffen. I hope you enjoy your summer and all I can say is good luck with the new 8th graders. Also I've enjoyed learning new ways to write, it's helped me in most of my poetry writing. Thank You Mrs. Griffen

  62. I am going to miss being the oldest in the school. Now we are going to be freshmans, the young ones. It was great to be the oldest in the school. All the fun things we got to do this year. I just can't wait until next year.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I will miss all my teachers the most because you all did fun activites in class. I hope I have that much fun or more next year.

    ReplyDelete
  64. The thing I believe I will miss most about middle school is the teachers. I think that the teachers you have make a huge impact on your experience as a student. To say one thing about Mr.Carr, he was funny. He was always messing with me.He made class fun not by the topics we studied, but by making the topics more interesting with activities that went along with each topic. Mrs.Griffin always had a smile on her face. Even when we couldn't quite figure out the answer to the plexer, at the end she would make us feel like we should of known the simple answer. Mrs.Howard never gives up. At the hardest of times for us, she would still stop to take the time to make sure we as individuals understood. Mrs.Jackson always knew how to make the simplest of answers into a long speech, but I think in the end it helped. I can only hope that next year will go as smoothly as this year did. While we will have different teachers, the memories of each and every teacher we have had will live on.

  65. What I will miss the most about 8th grade are all the teachers. There were so meny cheerful teachers in this building.

    ReplyDelete
  66. One thing I will miss about 8th grade is homework. We did not get much homework this year in each of our classes. Sometimes, on a bad day we get homework in all of the classes, but, on a good day we get no homework at all. I have an older sister in high school, and she is doing homework every night, even on breaks. 8th grade has had alot of fun memories the I will never forget. Especially the part about having the most relaxed, cool, not mean Language Arts teacher!

  67. I will miss all of the teachers and my friends. The best part of the year was hanging out with my friends in the hallways. The teachers were all pretty nice. I will miss 8th grade a lot but I am looking forward to highschool.
