I think Matt and Tam Lin have a very interesting relationship. Matt picked Tam Lin as his personal bodyguard because he saw a glint of friendship in his eyes. Even though I can’t help but wonder how the story would have turned out if Daft Donald was Matt’s bodyguard, I am glad that Matt chose Tam Lin. I think that Tam Lin will really help Matt realize who he is. Right now, Tam Lin is telling Matt all about surviving in the wild. He is teaching Matt about how to do things like climb mountains, and which plants are edible and which ones are not. I wish I knew why Tam Lin is telling this to Matt. Of course Matt is drinking it all up. He thinks Tam Lin is the third best thing that happened to him, besides Celia and Maria. Tam Lin is kind of like the father that Matt never had. Matt is with Tam Lin almost all of his time. Tam Lin answers all of Matt’s questions, which is a good thing since no one else will. One of the most important things that Tam Lin does to Matt is treating him like a human. Matt absolutely loves Tam Lin because he provides insight to all the things in life that Matt wonders about. I think that Matt and Tam Lin will be even closer in the future. I think that the story will deepen and there will be a time when Matt really needs a friend. Tam Lin will be the friend. I think that he will comfort Matt when Matt needs it, even if it doesn’t seem like it.
Tam Lin's revelations about Matt being a clone and what a clone is had a big effect on Matt. First, I think that Matt felt more like a "beast", or unhuman, not that he understood how he was created. He thought of himself as just a photograph or El Patron. However, I think it strengthened Matt and Tam Lin's relationship. Matt knows that he can trust Tam Lin to tell him the truth about himself and why people treat him the way they do. I think Matt looks up to Tam Lin like a friend, or maybe an older brother. Tam Lin takes him hiking and to the oasis, where Matt isn't supposed to go. Tam Lin is teaching him what the world is like outside of Matt's sheltered world on the plantation. Tam Lin treats Matt like a normal kid, instead of a clone, or an animal like everyone else does. Tam Lin really taught Matt about the world and gave him the strength to break through the things that try to stop Matt. Before Tam Lin, Matt didn't understand anything about the world. Nobody would tell him why things were the way they were. Then, Tam Lin comes in as a bodyguard, but ends up showing extreme compassion to Matt and helping Matt understand why his life is how it is. Matt's world is very confusing to him, and without guidance, Matt would be so confused he would probably just be going through the motions of life. Also, Tam Lin shows Matt the oasis, giving Matt the strength to look forward to a new day. Also, Matt can be very stubborn and selfish with the power given to him. Tam Lin always corrects him, but not harshly. He shows Matt the correct way to deal with people and show compassion and forgiveness. Since Matt has known Tam Lin, he has learned (not flawlessly, he still slips up) to deal with people in a way that is forgiving and compassionate. Although Tam Lin is a huge bodyguard, he knows more about life than most people ever learn, and he is constantly reminding others to do the same. I think that in the future, Matt will finally figure out that Tam Lin is helpful and correct, and Matt will treat others the way Tam Lin treats him: as an equal.
Matt and Tam Lin have closer relationship than you would think that a body gaurd has with the person that he is protecting. Tam Lin is there when Matt is not sure what to do or when he wants someone to talk to. Tam Lin is always trying to talk Matt out of doing things that he should not, but it has not worked thus far. Tam Lin is also there to teach Matt about things that no one else will tell him. One day, Matt and Tam Lin go to an oasis that Tam Lin has discovered. On the way there, they pass by the opium fields. Matt sees an eejit drop dead from exhaustion. Matt doesn't understand why he stopped working and got a drink. When they get to the oasis, Tam Lin explains what an eejit is and how they work. They can only do one thing at a time, unless they are told to do something else. Matt feels very uncomfortable while Tam Lin is explaining this to him. Matt realizes that all the farm workers are eejits. Eventually, Matt makes Tam Lin stop talking because he can not listen to this horrible news all at one time. I think that Tam Lin will be there for Matt later on in the book when he is in a pickle and does not know what to do. They will grow closer together as friends, and Tam Lin will teach him more about the secrets of the Alacrans.
The effect of Tam Lin's revelations on Matt are that Tam Lin becomes a father figure to Matt. A prediction is that Tam Lin will pretend to betray Matt but really set him on a path to Aztlan.
Matt and Tam Lin are developing a very close relationship at this point in the book. Tam Lin dares to answer each of Matt's inquiries and tell him the things that no one else will. Matt is soaking up every word Tam Lin says when they first go on a picnic, but one explanation drives Matt to the point of near hysteria. When Tam Lin describes to Matt all about eejits and that the man they saw died because he never stopped obeying orders Matt can't stand it. He gets very upset and has nightmares about the event for many nights to come. My prediction is that Tan Lin and Matt will continue to have a very tight friendship only to have it broken in the end.
Matt and Tam Lin's relationship has had a very interesting start and ever since it started. Tam Lin first stuck down his nose at the idea of being around a clone. Then he started getting used to the idea. The two of them started to find things that both Matt and Tam Lin had in common. Such as the dislike of Furball. Whenever this tiny dog got tossed in the drain, the both of them showed a feeling of relief, or excitement towards those happenings. I predict that Matt and Tam Lin's relationship is going to only go up, postive, nothing but good things from here.

On the pages 75-85 Matt and Tam Lin seem to finally be communicating like they’ve known each other for the longest time. Yes, Matt is reluctant to ask Tam Lin questions after Tam Lin becomes short with him. However Tam Lin is beginning to understand that Matt is a child, well he is a clone, but he is in the childhood stages of his lifetime. Tam Lin is learning everyday that Matt may need help understanding things, and that he is instructed to teach him those unknown things without hurting his feelings. I predict that Matt and Tam Lin will become closer and their friendship (and I use the term loosely) will eventually flourish into something greater and very strong as each day goes by. Tam Lin is Matt’s protector. He was instructed to be Matt’s bodyguard and make sure no harm comes to him. As I read on, I’m seeing that Tam Lin tries his hardest to give Matt all the freedom and independence as possible, teaching him, and protecting, and of course watching over him. Matt and Tam Lin didn't seem to have much in common at the start of their relationship. Matt picked Tam Lin because he thought that he looked friendlier than the other bodyguards. Tam Lin gradually teaches Matt about the ins and outs of the life he is destined to grow into, and it helps Matt figure out his place in the life of El Patron. I think that Tam Lin and Matt will continue to be friends because they seem to get along well. Even if Matt starts to dislike Tam Lin, he will still be eager to learn from him.

I say this because Tam Lin is a very humble man and quietly addresses Matt when he is in the wrong doing. Even though Matt is a clone, it seems Tam Lin looks past that and looks at the little boy side of Matt. I say this because in the story Matt is learning from an ejit teacher. He is very frustrated because the teacher keeps teaching him the same thing over and over again. Matt finally hits her and Tam Lin takes action and sets him straight. Also, I have this thought because it says in the story that Tam Lin takes Matt on a picnic via horseback. Matt is so influenced by Tam Lin because he teaches him to care and ride. I predict, in the future, that Matt and Tam Lin’s relationship will grow and prosper. I believe Matt will look to Tam Lin as more of a dad rather that a body guard. I say this because of all the interesting facts Tam Lin informs Matt of. Hopefully, Matt and Tam Lin’s relationship will be special at the end of the book.
Matt and Tam Lin have a vague relationship at first when Matt chooses Tam Lin to stay with him. Over time they get to know each other, and after Matt overcomes his time of silence, they go on a picnic to discuss El Patron. Here Tam Lin teaches Matt that things are not as they seem, and that El Patron may seem nice to Matt but has many flaws in his personality. Matt uses these teachings to further educate himself on his priorities. In the future i think that Matt's relationship with Tam Lin will start to fall apart since Matt is beginning to make some costly mistakes in his life. I am not very sure what will happen to Tam Lin's relationship with Matt, but I don't think it will remain positive forever.
The affect on Matt is that Tam Lin wants to make Matt smarter. In the end I believe that they will be good friends at the end of the book because of the great impact Tam Lin has on Matt. That is my prediction on those two's relationship.
Matt and Tam Lin are developing a friendship of some sorts. Tam Lin doesn't judge Matt and actually talks to Matt without being digusted with him like most of the people are. Tam Lin helps Matt come out of his shell and start to talk; he also help get Matt paino lessons since no one wants to teach an eejit, but Tam Lin finds somebody. Tam Lin also lets Matt know of the implants in people's head and in the horses. I think later on Matt will need help and Tam Lin will be the one to help Matt.
Tam Lin and Matt have had a very good relationship so far. With the field trips and everything they have talked a lot and have got to know each other. The eejit died, so I think Tam Lin might have scared Matt a little bit by saying it was programmed and all of this. Tam Lin has always told the truth. However, I think there relationship is starting to head down hill and isn't gonna work out. I believe they are not going to become that great of friends anymore.
Tam Lin is the only person besides Celia that just accepts Matt for who he is and doesn't just judge him because he's a clone. When Tam Lin took Matt to his secret place for a picnic, Matt started to trust Tam Lin like a friend instead of just a bodyguard. I think that Tam Lin is beginning to become like a father to Matt. He tells him things that a father or brother would have told Matt if he were a real boy. For example- Tam Lin tells Matt how he was "born" or created. Also, Tam Lin treats Matt differently than the way others treat Matt. He treats him like a regular human boy instead of just a clone. I don't think that we have got to the part about Maria's dog in class yet, but after the whole episode, when Tam Lin thinks Matt is lying, he says that "...the truth is best even when we find it unpleasant.". I think that, even though Tam Lin wasn't properly educated, he is still very wise and is a good person for Matt to be around. I think that Matt and Tam Lin will be good friends. Already they have a good foundation for a friendship especially after Tam Lin showed Matt the Oasis! I hope that El Patron doesn't take Tam Lin somewhere with him! Matt would be left alone with only Celia to be friends with!
It seems like Tam Lin wants Matt to succeed in life. Tam Lin teaches him about clones and eejits, telling him clones are merely a copy of a person’s biological material. After having the talk with Tam Lin about clones Matt really strives to be different from others. He takes an interest in learning and even starts playing the piano. I think Tam Lin and Matt’s relationship will grow strong as Matt proves to everyone else that he is not like other clones and it smart like a regular person. Maybe they will grow to become good friends.

The relationship between Tam Lin and Matt seems to be growing as they spend more and more time together. I think that Matt took Tam Lin's revelations rather well. This is because Matt seems to be making connections between people not talking and ignoring him to being a clone. This is because in the text it said “the number of people who love you is small and the number of people who hate you is large." I took this as one of the points when Matt realizes that not a lot of people are going to like him because he is a clone. I thin in the future that Matt will get into some big trouble. When Matt get in trouble Tam Lin will try to bail him out.
How Matt and Tam Lin's relationship was developing because when Matt started talking for the first time in a long time, Tam Lin decided to take Matt out for a picnic. He took Matt to a special place where you had to climb rocks and go through rough terrains and Matt wasn't allowed to go there. The relations Tam Lin has on Matt are strong because when he took Matt on the trail, Matt felt like he could take on anything and he could conquer anything. Matt was confident. Also, Tam Lin didn't tell other people things he told Matt, and he referred to Matt as a real human being. My prediction about the future of Tam Lin and Matt's relationship, is that they will be very tight, like he can rely on Tam Lin and know he will always be there.
I think that the relationship Tam Lin and Matt has is one of the big brother and younger brother. Tam Lin has experience in what he does offering good advice on important situations that happen in Matt's life. Matt being the disobedient little brother does not pay mind to the word of cations given to him and ends up regretting not listening. I think these two share that bond but don't see it. Tam Lin shows interest in Matt and protects him while Matt looks up to Tam Lin. When Tam Lin shows him all these knew thing in the world around him Matt has greater respect for Tam Lin wanting vast his knowledge and make Tam Lin proud of him.
I think chapters to come the relationship will come more obvious and soon will be realized when a hard ship comes along. This is only in my personal opinion.
To me, Matt and Tam Lin seem like they’re going to become more of friends than a body guard and the object guarded. Have you ever read the Twilight series? I just feel like connecting Tam Lin to Emmett, who is big and bulky. Emmett is huge and strong and at first, he seems a little intimidating, but once you get to know him, he’s like a big, old teddy bear. I like how Tam Lin doesn’t treat Matt like a clone. He also really seems to care about the well being of El Patron, while most people just seem to wish he would die already. Tam Lin wants Matt to know everything that El Patron did, if not even more. He also wanted to show Matt what a normal life is like, or what it’s like to be outside of the house. He takes Matt around on ‘field trips’ and shows him interesting things that Matt had never learned about. As I said, I honestly think that Tam Lin and Matt are going to become more of friends than anything else.

Matt and Tam Lin's relationship is hard to explain. Though it started out involuntary on both parts it soon became a strong almost father-son or big brother-little brother bond. Matt and Tam Lin don't exactly exchange a lot of dialog, but Tam Lin always seems to be like the angel on Matt's shoulder pointing him in the right direction, though letting him make his own decisions. Currently, Tam Lin is like Matt's support. When Matt needs something difficult explained to him, Tam Lin will be the adult who will tell Matt what he needs to hear or understand in terms he will understand without blunting the importance of the topic. For example: when Matt and Tam Lin were heading out to their picnic to "celebrate" Matt's renewed speaking abilities, Tam Lin helped Matt understand eejits. Tam Lin explained that "An eejit is a person or animal with an implant in its head." He didn't sugar coat it or avoid Matt's questions with excuses like " You"ll understand when you're older." or "It's not something you need to worry about." which helped Matt understand in an honest light a little more about the world he lives in and a little more about his situation. Tam Lin is even more commendable in my mind for the role he takes upon himself to play in Matt's life. While at their picnic Tam Lin began their conversation with "You haven't got anyone to explain things to you. You're alone in a way real humans can't understand. Even orphans can look at pictures and say,'That's me ma and that's me da.'" and then Lin goes on and basically takes on the role of parent for Matt in the rest of their conversation that day and sheds some light on Matt's story. I believe that Tam Lin is going to stay true to Matt no matter what, the rest of the story, because I believe that though they don't say it in words, Matt loves his bodyguard and Tam Lin loves his ward. In the future I think that Tam Lin will prove me correct by either sticking up for Matt no matter the possible risk or by helping Matt gain his freedom and his life. So I hope Matt will treasure Tam Lin for the honest, loving, protecting, friend that he is.

I predict that Matt and Tam Lin's relationship will grow stronger and stronger, and someday Tam Lin will be like a father to Matt. I believe that in the future Matt will go to Tam Lin when he needs help or when he has questions. Judging from what I have read so far I think that Tam Lin will comfort Matt when he is made fun of by Tom and the others because he is a clone. Tam Lin and Matt will become bestfriends and I think that Tam Lin will make Matt a better El Patron than the original El Patron because Tam Lin will teach him to be kind and loving.
Tam-Lin seems to know a lot about life from experience. He is one of the only adults that treats Matt like a real person. Also, Tam-Lin isn't the kind of body guard that gives Matt whatever he wants. He teaches Matt about nature and isn't afraid to let him learn the hard way. I predict that Matt will learn a lot from Tam-Lin: how harsh kind things can really be, the meaning of life, how to survive in the desert. Matt and Tam-Lin will probably become very close.
I predict that Tam-Lin and Matt's relationship will just keep growing. When they first met, Matt said that he saw friendship in Tam-Lin's eyes. That was the begining of their friendship. Now they do almost everything together. Tam-Lin treats Matt like he is important. He takes him horseback riding and on picnics. Also he trusts Matt to keep his secret about the oasis. He explains things to Matt when no one else does. This is why I think that Tam-Lin and Matt's friendship will keep growing.
I think that Tam Lin's revelations have a good impact on Matt. At first Matt picked Tam Lin because Tam Lin was the only one who actually looked kind of friendly. Being a clone, Matt doesn't get that very often. As Matt got used to Tam Lin, he started asking him questions about how he was made as a clone, what eejits really are, and other things. Tam Lin brought him to the oasis and explained a lot to him. Also, Tam Lin is one of the only people that aren’t afraid to say what he really thinks about El Patron. I think that Tam Lin will continue to be kind and friendly towards Matt. He will help Matt along while Matt is struggling with being a clone and not being liked by anyone except Maria, Celia, and Tam Lin. I think Tam Lin will teach him to grow up to be his own person and not just El Patron's clone.
The effect of Tam Lin's relvelations, I think, has had a very big impact on Matt. I think that Matt thought of himself just as everyone else did. He thought he was an animal. A creature or a freak rather than a human being. I think that Matt can tell that Tam Lin does not think of him like that. He thinks of matt just like any other person. He doesn't treat Matt any differently than how he would treat another human being. He takes Matt on trips into the mountains, even when he knows that everyone else would highly disagree, he does it anyway. He tells Matt everything he needs to know. He doesn't try and adviod hard topics or try and make it all seem like the world is all nice and soft and squishy and will always be nice, because it wont'. I predict that Tam Lin and Matt's relationship will inprove greatly throughtout the book. It started out involentary, but now, i think it has evolved into a much more of a brotherly love for eachother. I think that their bond to eachother will get strong as the book goes on. But, I do also think that there are going to be many hardships just down the road for Matt and Tam Lin. Something that may just ruin there friendship forever.

I predict that Tam Lin will either be fired or have to leave for some reason, and Matt will feel unprotected and alone. I think that Matt will continue to visit the oasis even if Tam Lin leaves.
The relationship between Tam Lin and Matt is strong. I say this because Tam Lin actually knows a lot about Matt by being with him all the time and Matt is getting to know Tam Lin a lot too. Throughout the book, the two will be even closer together because they are always by each others side. Tam Lin's relavations are acting on Matt because Tam Lin took him to his secret place to relax and get away from the Big House so Matt is getting more into nature and wildlife. Sooner or later Matt is going to be into all the relavations that Tam Lin has and be even closer to him. So that is why i think in the future Tam Lin's and Matt's relationship will grow even stronger.

Tam Lin is teaching him what the world is like outside of Matt's sheltered world on the plantation. Tam Lin treats Matt like a normal kid, instead of a clone, or an animal like everyone else does. I predict that Tam Lin will help free Matt from the drug plantation, and from the shadow of El Patron in the future.

Tam Lin really taught Matt about the world and gave him the strength to break through the things that try to stop Matt. Before Tam Lin, Matt didn't understand anything about the world. Nobody would tell him why things were the way they were. Then, Tam Lin comes in as a bodyguard, but ends up showing extreme compassion to Matt and helping Matt understand why his life is how it is. Matt's world is very confusing to him, and without guidance, Matt would be so confused he would probably just be going through the motions of life. Also, Tam Lin shows Matt the oasis, giving Matt the strength to look forward to a new day. Also, Matt can be very stubborn and selfish with the power given to him. Tam Lin always corrects him, but not harshly. He shows Matt the correct way to deal with people and show compassion and forgiveness. Since Matt has known Tam Lin, he has learned (not flawlessly, he still slips up) to deal with people in a way that is forgiving and compassionate. Although Tam Lin is a huge bodyguard, he knows more about life than most people ever learn, and he is constantly reminding others to do the same. I think that in the future, Matt will finally figure out that Tam Lin is helpful and correct, and Matt will treat others the way Tam Lin treats him: as an equal.
ReplyDeleteMatt and Tam Lin have closer relationship than you would think that a body gaurd has with the person that he is protecting. Tam Lin is there when Matt is not sure what to do or when he wants someone to talk to. Tam Lin is always trying to talk Matt out of doing things that he should not, but it has not worked thus far. Tam Lin is also there to teach Matt about things that no one else will tell him. One day, Matt and Tam Lin go to an oasis that Tam Lin has discovered. On the way there, they pass by the opium fields. Matt sees an eejit drop dead from exhaustion. Matt doesn't understand why he stopped working and got a drink. When they get to the oasis, Tam Lin explains what an eejit is and how they work. They can only do one thing at a time, unless they are told to do something else. Matt feels very uncomfortable while Tam Lin is explaining this to him. Matt realizes that all the farm workers are eejits. Eventually, Matt makes Tam Lin stop talking because he can not listen to this horrible news all at one time. I think that Tam Lin will be there for Matt later on in the book when he is in a pickle and does not know what to do. They will grow closer together as friends, and Tam Lin will teach him more about the secrets of the Alacrans.

ReplyDeleteMatt and Tam Lin are developing a very close relationship at this point in the book. Tam Lin dares to answer each of Matt's inquiries and tell him the things that no one else will. Matt is soaking up every word Tam Lin says when they first go on a picnic, but one explanation drives Matt to the point of near hysteria. When Tam Lin describes to Matt all about eejits and that the man they saw died because he never stopped obeying orders Matt can't stand it. He gets very upset and has nightmares about the event for many nights to come. My prediction is that Tan Lin and Matt will continue to have a very tight friendship only to have it broken in the end.

Matt and Tam Lin's relationship has had a very interesting start and ever since it started. Tam Lin first stuck down his nose at the idea of being around a clone. Then he started getting used to the idea. The two of them started to find things that both Matt and Tam Lin had in common. Such as the dislike of Furball. Whenever this tiny dog got tossed in the drain, the both of them showed a feeling of relief, or excitement towards those happenings. I predict that Matt and Tam Lin's relationship is going to only go up, postive, nothing but good things from here.

ReplyDeleteOn the pages 75-85 Matt and Tam Lin seem to finally be communicating like they’ve known each other for the longest time. Yes, Matt is reluctant to ask Tam Lin questions after Tam Lin becomes short with him. However Tam Lin is beginning to understand that Matt is a child, well he is a clone, but he is in the childhood stages of his lifetime. Tam Lin is learning everyday that Matt may need help understanding things, and that he is instructed to teach him those unknown things without hurting his feelings. I predict that Matt and Tam Lin will become closer and their friendship (and I use the term loosely) will eventually flourish into something greater and very strong as each day goes by. Tam Lin is Matt’s protector. He was instructed to be Matt’s bodyguard and make sure no harm comes to him. As I read on, I’m seeing that Tam Lin tries his hardest to give Matt all the freedom and independence as possible, teaching him, and protecting, and of course watching over him. Tam Lin is doing his best to let Matt live a “normal” life. Matt and Tam Lin, best friends? Not exactly, but maybe someday they will be. Who knows? SJB

ReplyDeleteMatt and Tam Lin didn't seem to have much in common at the start of their relationship. Matt picked Tam Lin because he thought that he looked friendlier than the other bodyguards. Tam Lin gradually teaches Matt about the ins and outs of the life he is destined to grow into, and it helps Matt figure out his place in the life of El Patron. I think that Tam Lin and Matt will continue to be friends because they seem to get along well. Even if Matt starts to dislike Tam Lin, he will still be eager to learn from him.
ReplyDeleteBy analyzing the developing relationship between Matt and Tam Lin, I feel the effect Tam Lin’s revelations have on Matt is very influential to Matt . I say this because Tam Lin is a very humble man and quietly addresses Matt when he is in the wrong doing. Even though Matt is a clone, it seems Tam Lin looks past that and looks at the little boy side of Matt. I say this because in the story Matt is learning from an ejit teacher. He is very frustrated because the teacher keeps teaching him the same thing over and over again. Matt finally hits her and Tam Lin takes action and sets him straight. Also, I have this thought because it says in the story that Tam Lin takes Matt on a picnic via horseback. Matt is so influenced by Tam Lin because he teaches him to care and ride. I predict, in the future, that Matt and Tam Lin’s relationship will grow and prosper. I believe Matt will look to Tam Lin as more of a dad rather that a body guard. I say this because of all the interesting facts Tam Lin informs Matt of. Hopefully, Matt and Tam Lin’s relationship will be special at the end of the book.
ReplyDeleteMatt and Tam Lin have a vague relationship at first when Matt chooses Tam Lin to stay with him. Over time they get to know each other, and after Matt overcomes his time of silence, they go on a picnic to discuss El Patron. Here Tam Lin teaches Matt that things are not as they seem, and that El Patron may seem nice to Matt but has many flaws in his personality. Matt uses these teachings to further educate himself on his priorities. In the future i think that Matt's relationship with Tam Lin will start to fall apart since Matt is beginning to make some costly mistakes in his life. I am not very sure what will happen to Tam Lin's relationship with Matt, but I don't think it will remain positive forever.

ReplyDeleteMatt and Tam Lin are developing a friendship of some sorts. Tam Lin doesn't judge Matt and actually talks to Matt without being digusted with him like most of the people are. Tam Lin helps Matt come out of his shell and start to talk; he also help get Matt paino lessons since no one wants to teach an eejit, but Tam Lin finds somebody. Tam Lin also lets Matt know of the implants in people's head and in the horses. I think later on Matt will need help and Tam Lin will be the one to help Matt.

The eejit died, so I think Tam Lin might have scared Matt a little bit by saying it was programmed and all of this. Tam Lin has always told the truth. However, I think there relationship is starting to head down hill and isn't gonna work out. I believe they are not going to become that great of friends anymore.

Tam Lin is the only person besides Celia that just accepts Matt for who he is and doesn't just judge him because he's a clone. When Tam Lin took Matt to his secret place for a picnic, Matt started to trust Tam Lin like a friend instead of just a bodyguard. Tam Lin has experience with El Patron so he can give advice to Matt about how to act around him. I think that Matt and Tam Lin will continue to become good friends.
ReplyDeleteI think that Tam Lin is beginning to become like a father to Matt. He tells him things that a father or brother would have told Matt if he were a real boy. For example- Tam Lin tells Matt how he was "born" or created. Also, Tam Lin treats Matt differently than the way others treat Matt. He treats him like a regular human boy instead of just a clone. I think that will make Matt like Tam Lin a lot more! Tam Lin is a very good influence on Matt. I don't think that we have got to the part about Maria's dog in class yet, but after the whole episode, when Tam Lin thinks Matt is lying, he says that "...the truth is best even when we find it unpleasant.". I think that, even though Tam Lin wasn't properly educated, he is still very wise and is a good person for Matt to be around. I think that Matt and Tam Lin will be good friends. Already they have a good foundation for a friendship especially after Tam Lin showed Matt the Oasis! I hope that El Patron doesn't take Tam Lin somewhere with him! Matt would be left alone with only Celia to be friends with!
ReplyDeleteIt seems like Tam Lin wants Matt to succeed in life. Tam Lin teaches him about clones and eejits, telling him clones are merely a copy of a person’s biological material. After having the talk with Tam Lin about clones Matt really strives to be different from others. He takes an interest in learning and even starts playing the piano. I think Tam Lin and Matt’s relationship will grow strong as Matt proves to everyone else that he is not like other clones and it smart like a regular person. Maybe they will grow to become good friends.
ReplyDeleteThe relationship between Matt and Tam Lin has gotten off to a good start. Matt first chose Tam Lin to be his bodyguard because he saw a glint of friendliness in his eyes. And ever since then, Tam Lin has proven himself to be a great friend as well as an admirable bodyguard to Matt. He showed Matt the oasis, and he also taught him things; like how to survive out in the wilderness, how to read a map, and how to climb cliffs. I think Matt and Tam Lin have made a unusual sort of a alliance, but a friendship no less. My prediction of what's going to happen next is that Matt and Tam Lin's relationship will continue to get better and better. Even to the point where Tam Lin might save Matt's life. I think this because I believe that there is a reason why Tam Lin is teaching Matt information that's useful to surviving out in nature.

This is because Matt seems to be making connections between people not talking and ignoring him to being a clone. This is because in the text it said “the number of people who love you is small and the number of people who hate you is large." I took this as one of the points when Matt realizes that not a lot of people are going to like him because he is a clone. I thin in the future that Matt will get into some big trouble. When Matt get in trouble Tam Lin will try to bail him out.
ReplyDeleteHow Matt and Tam Lin's relationship was developing because when Matt started talking for the first time in a long time, Tam Lin decided to take Matt out for a picnic. He took Matt to a special place where you had to climb rocks and go through rough terrains and Matt wasn't allowed to go there. The relations Tam Lin has on Matt are strong because when he took Matt on the trail, Matt felt like he could take on anything and he could conquer anything. Matt was confident. Also, Tam Lin didn't tell other people things he told Matt, and he referred to Matt as a real human being. My prediction about the future of Tam Lin and Matt's relationship, is that they will be very tight, like he can rely on Tam Lin and know he will always be there.
ReplyDeleteI think that the relationship Tam Lin and Matt has is one of the big brother and younger brother. Tam Lin has experience in what he does offering good advice on important situations that happen in Matt's life. Matt being the disobedient little brother does not pay mind to the word of cations given to him and ends up regretting not listening. I think these two share that bond but don't see it. Tam Lin shows interest in Matt and protects him while Matt looks up to Tam Lin. When Tam Lin shows him all these knew thing in the world around him Matt has greater respect for Tam Lin wanting vast his knowledge and make Tam Lin proud of him.

To me, Matt and Tam Lin seem like they’re going to become more of friends than a body guard and the object guarded. Have you ever read the Twilight series? I just feel like connecting Tam Lin to Emmett, who is big and bulky. Emmett is huge and strong and at first, he seems a little intimidating, but once you get to know him, he’s like a big, old teddy bear.
ReplyDeleteI like how Tam Lin doesn’t treat Matt like a clone. He also really seems to care about the well being of El Patron, while most people just seem to wish he would die already. Tam Lin wants Matt to know everything that El Patron did, if not even more. He also wanted to show Matt what a normal life is like, or what it’s like to be outside of the house. He takes Matt around on ‘field trips’ and shows him interesting things that Matt had never learned about.
As I said, I honestly think that Tam Lin and Matt are going to become more of friends than anything else.
The relationship between Tam Lin and Matt is kind of like a friendship. Tam Lin, to me, can read what's on Matt's heart and when Matt couldn't talk, he translated his thoughts for him. Tam Lin is a good influence on Matt because he can tell when a person is truly what they say they are or if they're a fake, like when Tom acts like an angel when he really is far from that. Also, Tam Lin teaches Matt about nature, even though Tam Lin didn't go to school, he still is a knowledgeable source. My prediction for Tam Lin and Matt's relationship is that Tam Lin might have to go back to guarding El Patron because he is getting older and less healthy, so Matt may not be able to see Tam Lin for awhile, only when El Patron is visiting.

Matt also is glad that he has Tam Lin there for protection as he could easily get hurt in a world were no one likes him. I predict that Matt's relationship will eventually have to end with Tam Lin as El Patron or possibly Maria's father will take Tam Lin away from Matt because they seem like they are too happy together.

Tam Lin explains a lot to Matt when they go on their pininc to the oasis. When Matt is with Tam Lin and they go on adventures like this it frees Matt and makes him feel normal. I think that Tam Lins revolations have a deep impact on Matt and give him a little pleasure in his horrible life.

ReplyDeleteMatt and Tam Lin's relationship is hard to explain. Though it started out involuntary on both parts it soon became a strong almost father-son or big brother-little brother bond. Matt and Tam Lin don't exactly exchange a lot of dialog, but Tam Lin always seems to be like the angel on Matt's shoulder pointing him in the right direction, though letting him make his own decisions.
ReplyDeleteCurrently, Tam Lin is like Matt's support. When Matt needs something difficult explained to him, Tam Lin will be the adult who will tell Matt what he needs to hear or understand in terms he will understand without blunting the importance of the topic. For example: when Matt and Tam Lin were heading out to their picnic to "celebrate" Matt's renewed speaking abilities, Tam Lin helped Matt understand eejits.
Tam Lin explained that "An eejit is a person or animal with an implant in its head." He didn't sugar coat it or avoid Matt's questions with excuses like " You"ll understand when you're older." or "It's not something you need to worry about." which helped Matt understand in an honest light a little more about the world he lives in and a little more about his situation.
Tam Lin is even more commendable in my mind for the role he takes upon himself to play in Matt's life. While at their picnic Tam Lin began their conversation with "You haven't got anyone to explain things to you. You're alone in a way real humans can't understand. Even orphans can look at pictures and say,'That's me ma and that's me da.'" and then Lin goes on and basically takes on the role of parent for Matt in the rest of their conversation that day and sheds some light on Matt's story.
I believe that Tam Lin is going to stay true to Matt no matter what, the rest of the story, because I believe that though they don't say it in words, Matt loves his bodyguard and Tam Lin loves his ward. In the future I think that Tam Lin will prove me correct by either sticking up for Matt no matter the possible risk or by helping Matt gain his freedom and his life. So I hope Matt will treasure Tam Lin for the honest, loving, protecting, friend that he is.
Matt and Tam Lin have an interesting relationship. Tam Lin tries to be friendly and show Matt new things, and Matt tries to be open to Tam Lin & what Tam Lin shows him. Tam-Lin seems to know a lot about life from experience. He is one of the only adults that treats Matt like a real person. Also, Tam-Lin isn't the kind of body guard that gives Matt whatever he wants. He teaches Matt about nature and isn't afraid to let him learn the hard way. I predict that Matt will learn a lot from Tam-Lin: how harsh kind things can really be, the meaning of life, how to survive in the desert. Matt and Tam-Lin will probably become very close.

Now they do almost everything together. Tam-Lin treats Matt like he is important. He takes him horseback riding and on picnics. Also he trusts Matt to keep his secret about the oasis. He explains things to Matt when no one else does. This is why I think that Tam-Lin and Matt's friendship will keep growing.

Being a clone, Matt doesn't get that very often. As Matt got used to Tam Lin, he started asking him questions about how he was made as a clone, what eejits really are, and other things. Tam Lin brought him to the oasis and explained a lot to him. Also, Tam Lin is one of the only people that aren’t afraid to say what he really thinks about El Patron. I think that Tam Lin will continue to be kind and friendly towards Matt. He will help Matt along while Matt is struggling with being a clone and not being liked by anyone except Maria, Celia, and Tam Lin. I think Tam Lin will teach him to grow up to be his own person and not just El Patron's clone.

A creature or a freak rather than a human being. I think that Matt can tell that Tam Lin does not think of him like that. He thinks of matt just like any other person. He doesn't treat Matt any differently than how he would treat another human being. He takes Matt on trips into the mountains, even when he knows that everyone else would highly disagree, he does it anyway. He tells Matt everything he needs to know. He doesn't try and adviod hard topics or try and make it all seem like the world is all nice and soft and squishy and will always be nice, because it wont'.

It started out involentary, but now, i think it has evolved into a much more of a brotherly love for eachother. I think that their bond to eachother will get strong as the book goes on. But, I do also think that there are going to be many hardships just down the road for Matt and Tam Lin. Something that may just ruin there friendship forever.

I think that Matt and Tam Lin have an interesting relationship. Tam Lin doesn't really seem to love Matt, but is still very protective of him. Sometimes Tam Lin is kind to Matt and other times he just ignores him. I think Matt and Tam Lin consider each other acquaintances, but they are not quite friends. I believe that Tam Lin feels it is his duty to protect Matt, but only because he has been ordered to do so. I don't think Tam Lin sees Matt as a burden, but he obviously doesn't really connect with Matt. When Tam Lin takes Matt to the oasis, he seems to be more caring towards Matt. I think that he doesn't want to seem "soft" around the other guards and risk being fired. I predict that Tam Lin will either be fired or have to leave for some reason, and Matt will feel unprotected and alone. I think that Matt will continue to visit the oasis even if Tam Lin leaves.

I say this because Tam Lin actually knows a lot about Matt by being with him all the time and Matt is getting to know Tam Lin a lot too. Throughout the book, the two will be even closer together because they are always by each others side. Tam Lin's relavations are acting on Matt because Tam Lin took him to his secret place to relax and get away from the Big House so Matt is getting more into nature and wildlife. Sooner or later Matt is going to be into all the relavations that Tam Lin has and be even closer to him. So that is why i think in the future Tam Lin's and Matt's relationship will grow even stronger.
ReplyDeleteThe relationship between between Matt and Tam lin is a good one. Tam Lin may seem like a bad and evil peson from his past, but he really cares for Matt. They get even closer throughout the book. I felt bad when Matt thought Tam Lin left him and when he left the suppy box. I thought Tam Lin didn't want to be his friend anymore. I believe Matt and Tam Lin's realtionship will get closer as the story thickens.
