  1. The theme of my novel Tropical Secrets is that maybe when everything seems impossible to reach, that music will help you get through things. I say this because the main character of the book,Daniel, gets sent to cuba as a war refuge and his parents aren't with him. And he's supposed to meet them in New York so he doesn't want to get to attached to Cuba. But he knows he won't be able to go to New York so to help through all of this he plays music and that helps him a bunch.

  2. I believe the theme of my novel is that God is everywhere, he dose the same things we do. Just because we cant always see him doesn't mean that he isn't always here. Just like poem on page 37 says "God has a cousin." God has family just like we do, he is everyones family and he checks on each and everyone of us everyday. In the poem "God found some fudge" on page 41 It says that God was just trying to make some fudge like a normal person when he created Neptune. It says that "Everything God does tends to turn out big. Really big." God is just trying to be as normal as he can, but things always turn out a little different for him. This is why i believe that the theme of my novel is that God is everywhere, he is always with you no matter if you know it or not.

  3. I believe that the novel in the book was not to judge things by what they seem as. In the book, Ruby hates the fact that she is leaving her best friend and boyfriend in Boston to go to California. But througout the book, Ruby gets to know and like her father as well as different things about California. Such as her dream bedroom and her dad's assistant Matt.

  5. I say that the theme of my book is, that at first you might hate something and be discusted by it, but once you get use to it and actually see the real world you start to like it. I think that because at the beeginning of the novel Skye & Atenz hated trash and the smell of it. During the middle and the end they were around it & got use to it and Skye starts to use it in her art. Also at the end when she's talking to herself she says " who'd ever imagine i'd come to love all this trash?".

  6. I think that the theme of my novel is that you can do anything no matter who you are. I think this because Josie has cerebral palsy, yet still leads a somewhat normal life to the best of her ability.

  7. The theme of "Hate That Cat" is to be open minded as well as to be confident about what you enjoy doing and never give up. Jack starts out has a cat hater and a confused poet. He writes to his teacher about his confusion of figurative language and poetic devices, and how his uncle is very particular about poems. But gradually, towards the end, his teacher shows him all sorts of poetry books, teaches him and answers his questions. He gets a kitten for Christmas, and learns to love it, and eventually even loves the fat black cat that created his bias. He writes many poems to his teacher inspired my many well known poets to get a message across, and becomes very proud to be a writer.

  8. The theme of Dark Sons by Nikki Grimes is that family is very important, so don't let anything change that. The reason I think this is the case is because Samuel's parents get divorced, and he hates it and can't get over it, but by staying close to God and working things out just like Ishmael and he learns to deal with it.

  11. The theme of Street love is to never stop believing. When Junice and Damien fall in love, they don't know if it will work. Junice's mom is in jail and she is taking care of her sister. Damien had always liked her and now got the chance to be with her. It was both their dreams to talk and fall in love. So they can never stop believing.

  12. The theme is treat every moment like your last. This is because you never know when you will die. Like in this book a lot of poeple died in a fire and if they were mean to someone they could never make it up. Like a boy in this book was not allowed to go but he disobeyed anyway and he died. Also some parents were in the military and hadn't seen their children for a while and they will never see them again.

  13. The theme of Wolf Pack is that wolves and all animals are intelligent creatures rather than wild beasts

  14. The theme of my novel Summerhouse Time is that things aren't always perfect. For example when Sophie went to her beach house during the summer to meet up with the rest of her family, she could hardly wait. However when she got there, nothing was the way she had planned. Her favorite cousin, Colleen wouldn't talk to her, her cat ran away, and they found out that her dad is prone to having panic attacks! These are definitely situations that aren't perfect, but you have to learn to manage your stress, and eventually everything will be okay.

  15. The theme of Shark Girl I think is sometimes bad things happen but life goes on and you should never give up! Something good comes out of everything. The reason I think this is because Jane got her arm bitten off by a shark and right now she is going through all the struggles like going out in public and trying to do things she could do before but cant now. Also, she used to be an amazing drawer but can't draw anymore either! So right now her life is definitely way different than before but she isn't giving up.

  17. The theme of the Trial by Jen Bryant is that things all happen for a reason. This is true because Bruno Richard Hauptmann was convicted for first degree so that the Lindbergh family would have closure. Second, Mike had to leave to live in Indiana with his aunt because his father was an alcoholic and didn't raise Mike well. Poor little Charlie Lindbergh was taken from his home because the kidnapper wanted money.

  18. I have read the book "Shark Girl" the past week. This book is very inspirational, in my opinion. The theme to me is about believing in yourself when times are hard, knowing the fact that things happen for a reason and everything will fall into place in the end. When "Shark Girl" gets her arm taken off by a shark, she gets real down and only looks at the negatives in everything. Towards the end, she starts to believe in herself, even when times are hard. She begins to get back on her feet and keep going. Even though she has lost an arm, she gets back up at the things she does best, cooking, drawing and surfing. Which also adds on the theme, don't let one thing bring you down. Don't let that one thing keep you from your dreams. This book makes me also think about how lucky I am to have so much. How lucky I am that something as tragic as a shark taking my arm, didn't happen to me. This makes me consider all the helpful and great things I can do, and some stuff that some people can't do. These themes really make me look at life alot differently.

  19. The theme of "Shakespeare Makes the Playoffs" by Ron Koertge is that change is always good and you should except it. The main character Kevin has a girlfriend he has been together with for awhile. After he mets this girl at a poetry club he finds he starts to like her. He is afriad to leave the way things are but finds when he changes and dates his poet friend, he finds he is happier.

  20. I think the theme of the novel Out of the Dust is forgiveness. For example, Billie Jo needs to learn to forgive her father. She blames him for leaving a pail of kerosene next to the stove, thus causing a fire that killed her mother and baby Franklin. She cant find the heart to forgive him and ends up running away. But in the end Billie Jo learns to forgive her father and understand because all along he had always been there for her. She finds forgiveness for her father and even herself.

  21. I think the theme of my novel Street Love is that you should always make smart decisions and live life to its fullest. For example Junice is always trying to make the right decisions to keep her, her sister, and grandmother fed. She was a very good role model for her little sister. Also when she met Damian she started to have a little more fun and fell in love with him. She still managed to keep her life in check though and that was important.

  22. The theme of my novel is, no matter how big the obstacle, you can always overcome it. Jane is a prize winning artist and lost her arm in a shark attack and thinks about giving up drawing and cooking and everything she loves because she doesn't have faith in herself. It takes her a long time to realize that evryone is on her side and is trying to help her feel normal and fit in again. Once she realizes that, a lot of things are so much easier for her knowing she has the love and support of that many people.

  23. The theme of my novel would be to never give up and don't hold on to your past, but learn from it and move on. Georgia's mom died a when she was in elementary school, and she kind of wanted to just forget about it. Her dad, though, grew sad and didn't want to talk about his wife. Georgia also loved to draw. She didn't give up on her dream even though her father didn't fully support her. Georgia's perseverance ended up paying off in the end.

  24. The theme of I heart you, You haunt me by Lisa Schroeder is that even if a loved one dies, life most go on. In this book Ava's boyfriend, Jackson, dies and she feels like it's her fault because she dared him to jump off a cliff above a waterfall and that's what killed him. Jackson haunts Ava though until she lets go of blaming herself and moves on living her life.

  25. Novel: Hugging the Rock

Theme: I believe the theme of my book would be that even though something traumatizing or sad happens, you can't just give up. You have to keep living your life. At the begging of the book Rachel just sits and does nothing.
    "The first week
I spend most of the time
I'm supposed to be doing chores
    in my room with Madison
    wondering what I did
    so wrong
that my mom had to run away"
But by the end she is able to lean on her Dad and get over most of the depression she was going through!
"Are you still mad about Mom leaving us?" I ask.
    "I guess some days
I feel worse than others, he says.
    How about you?"
"Some days yes, I tell him.
but not as much as before."

  26. The theme of Shakespeare Bats Cleanup is to never close your mind to new things. Kevin Boland has mono and is forced to stop baseball. Even though he's unwilling at the beginning he ends up finding a new love. Poetry. At the end of the book he says that poetry is almost as cool as baseball.

  27. After reading Pieces of Georgia, I think that the theme of this book is that no matter what negatives come at you in your life, you can overcome them with 2 times as many positives. Like in the beggining, when Georgia gets a notebook from her school counselor hands her a notebook to fill with what she would talk about with her mother, she doesn't even have a clue of what to write, but when she gets started she feels like she's talking directly to her mother.

  29. The theme of my novel is all things heal in time. In the book "Hugging the Rock" Rachel's mom leaves her and her dad. In the beginning she starts out hating her dad. She blames him for making her mom leave. As the book progresses Rachel starts to forgive her father and learn more about her mother and her disorder. She also grows closer to her father. By the end of the book they've learned to live their lives without the mother. They also grew closer together and learned more about each other.

  30. In the novel "Street Love" by Walter Dean Myers I think the theme is 'go for what you want and never give up'. I think this because in the story Damien really likes Junice and he thinks she is a wonderful girl and he wants her really bad!

  31. The theme of Heartbreak is to always be on goaurd and to laeve your heart gaurded, but also that good things can come out of the sadness.

  32. The theme of Song of the Sparrow I believe is no matter what happens, you can always make it though. I mean Elaine saw her mother die in front of her (page 42), lost the man she was in love with to a mean woman (page 189) and was shot with a arrow. (page 325) Still she made it though, she did not lose anyone else in her family, she found true love with Tristan (page 365 and 372) and her wounds are healing.

  33. I think the theme of this book is to always look deeper than what the eye can see. I think this because at first Rachael thought her dad was the rock when in reality her mom was always the bad guy in the book.

  35. The theme in Wicked Girls is be honesty is the best policy. This is the theme because Margret and the girls tell one lie and now they have to keep lying because the concil depends on them to decide if a person is a witch or not.

  36. The theme of "Brushing Mom's Hair" is to be yourself. I think the theme is to be yourself because Ann's mother has cancer and she hides from herself in the beggining. Towards the end of the book she starts to open herself up and truly show who she really is. An example would be not wearing a wig even though Ann's mom is hairless.

  37. I think the theme of "Amiri & Odette" is about how even with life in a hard neighborhood, or strict parents, or things to lead you astray, true love will never die. And even in a fantasy ballet from the 1800s you can still find a message about love, or connections to maodern life.

  38. I think the theme of the novel I had to read was along the lines of "There's no place like home." JoEllen has to switch homes a lot, but she feels at home in both places.

  39. The theme of my book, Stop Pretending is about a 19 year old girl who goes to a physco ward. it is told from her little sister's point of view. I think the theme of the book is when things get tough to perservere because she loses all her friends over it and has to make new ones. Also, her parents go through rough times with her.
